The Institute actively seeks and encourages diversity on campus and in the community. The Diversity Committee of the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology is open to students, staff and faculty interested in diversity. The committee was formed in 1995 to address issues of diversity, increase awareness and acceptance of diversity at ITP and sponsor events in the ITP community relating to diversity.
The committee has been instrumental in the formation of a Management/Diversity committee to advise ITP management and faculty in matters of policy. A Faculty Cultural Competence Committee was also created to support and advise faculty efforts to bring multicultural view-points into the classroom.
Some of the activities that the Diversity Committee has sponsored include:
- Worldwork Weekend with Amy and Arnold Mindell
- Two one-day follow-up workshops on diversity
- Diversity Training for all incoming students
- Quarterly workshops
Mission Statement
The Student Diversity Committee's mission is to ensure that ITP is a place where diversity of (but not limited to) ethnic, sex, gender, culture, religion, spiritual path, physical ability, sexual and affectional preference, social status and political affiliation is welcome, honored and valued.

Objectives
- To welcome all voices as expressions of the diverse opinions that are at the basis of any community.
- To create a safe, open venue for all these voices and opinions.
- To determine which issues can be addressed within the committee's means (and to address them) and which issues need further action outside of the committee.
- To act as an information exchange between ITP's staff and faculty and the student body concerning diversity issues, and especially to ensure that matters relevant to ITP's faculty and management will be addressed by them.
- To encourage and monitor the need for diversity in curriculum.
- To organize (sometimes in conjunction with faculty and management) activities and curricula related to diversity issues, including fundraising, new student orientation and special classes and/or workshops.
- To take a proactive stance in being a voice for diversity in academic and extracurricular activities, and to support and empower committee members and other students to become such a voice in their personal and professional lives.
