The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP) is a private, non-profit, graduate school, founded in 1975 as a California corporation. ITP is WASC accredited and offers Masters and Doctoral Degree Programs in the field of transpersonal psychology and related areas. The residential facility is located in Palo Alto, California, 45 minutes south of San Francisco. In addition, the Institute provides low-residency and distance learning (Global) programs to permit students the opportunity to study at home and on-line, as well as to meet at ITP for brief intensive seminars with their cohort and faculty. An undergraduate, degree-completion program is currently in the planning process.
The mission of the Institute is to provide education at the graduate level in transpersonal psychology and related areas. The Institute’s purpose is to prepare students to apply the knowledge, principles and experiences of transpersonal psychology to research, training and the practice of clinicians, counselors, educators, and other professionals. It is the Institute’s broader purpose to provide leadership in the field of transpersonal psychology. In advancing this field, faculty and graduates contribute to the enrichment of human life and address worldwide needs with compassion and effectiveness. A collegial faculty and administrative culture prevails.
Curricular areas for core and contract faculty include transpersonal theory, spiritual traditions, spiritual guidance, creative expression, clinical psychology, human development, group and community work, organizational development, mind-body healing, somatic psychology, subtle energy, parapsychology, and transpersonal ecopsychology, as well as research methods and dissertation advising.

Director of Admissions
REPORTS TO: Vice President for Enrollment Management
Status: Full-Time, Regular, Exempt
The Director of Admissions provides leadership and management direction to the Office of Admissions. S/he is primarily responsible for oversight of the process of converting inquiries to applications and applicants to matriculants. The position is also responsible – in collaboration with the VPEM and the Marketing Specialist - for efforts to identify, attract, admit, and enroll new students to the Institute in furtherance of the institutional mission, core values and enrollment goals.
The Director of Admissions will join efforts to: 1) identify and cultivate target markets, and students, locally, nationally and internationally; 2) promote the Institute’s unique programs and services; 3) facilitate access to all qualified candidates ; and, 4) administer a candidate selection process that meets prescribed goals for size, composition, quality and diversity, in a timely manner, as set by the Institute’s faculty leadership and senior administration.
The Director of Admissions is also responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of ITP’s Admissions Office, and providing effective supervision of staff to ensure high-quality service to all prospective students and other constituencies of ITP. This position participates on a number of management committees that advise the President on direction and strategy for the Institute. The Director of Admissions will be expected to demonstrate appropriate levels of professional and technical competence while maintaining high ethical standards in the discharge of this role, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff in other departments and other key administrators at the Institute.
Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Marketing
- Develop, implement, and evaluate strategies and tactics for the Admissions staff to engage inquirers, match the best-fit program, and facilitate their movement through the enrollment pipeline.
- Educate and advise prospective students and applicants about the ITP mission, program requirements, admissions procedures, Institute policies, and potential academic and career decisions.
- Coordinate and facilitate campus-based and online information sessions and other recruitment events. Attend recruitment fairs and other promotional engagements as representative of ITP when appropriate.
- Ensure implementation of the communications stream(s) for timely and consistent follow-up via email, phone, and postal mail with prospective students, and introduce new technical and interactive tools and systems as appropriate.
- Collaborate with students, alumni, and faculty regarding their attendance at Open Houses and availability as contacts for prospective students.
- Function as Admissions Counselor with recruitment responsibility for designated programs as needed.
- Manage a candidate review process that meets prescribed goals for size, composition, quality and diversity while communicating such decisions in a timely manner as per any published timelines.
- Develop and implement yield management initiatives that optimize yield while minimizing melt.
- Maintain fluency with current on-line methods of engaging prospective students (Social media, chat, etc.) and implement them strategically in the department’s operation.
Management and Supervision
- Manage all operations within Admissions Office, from budgetary and operational issues to strategies and tactics to move prospective students successfully along the enrollment pipeline.
- Refine and streamline all Admissions policies and procedures and develop strategies to meet changing annual enrollment goals and objectives for all programs as the institute grows and adds programs.
- Track admissions inquiries and applications within the database, and report new student enrollment data to administrative and academic leaders.
- Supervise Admissions staff to ensure compliance with all Admissions policies and procedures; provide training, coaching, direction and feedback to Admissions staff and student workers on a regular basis.
- As part of the management team, participate on all relevant standing and ad hoc committees.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university; Master’s degree preferred.
- Five to Seven years of relevant and increasingly responsible Admissions experience (graduate, undergraduate, and on-line program experience preferred). Prior experience supervising staff preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, and to lead and motivate staff.
- Detail-oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills; incumbent will possess persuasive and sophisticated presentation skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to facilitate meetings or discussions effectively.
- Highly organized, able to budget time and money, prioritize job duties for self and others, manage multiple tasks, and oversee the work of team members.
- Expert in Microsoft Office Suite, demonstrated competence and expertise with SIS database management, admissions and enrollment management tools (prospect management, application tracking, yield analysis, etc.). Experience with interactive media for marketing is essential.
- Knowledge of transpersonal psychology is highly desirable.

Marketing Specialist
REPORTS TO: Vice President for Enrollment Management
Status: Full-Time, Regular, Exempt
Position Summary:
The Marketing Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of internal and external marketing functions that support enrollment. This is a “hands on” position requiring demonstrated project management and both print and internet strategic marketing experience. The Marketing Specialist works with administrative and faculty leadership and various work teams to implement a comprehensive marketing program in support of the Institute’s strategic enrollment plan to attract new students and enhance the organization’s brand and position within the marketplace.
Responsibilities:
- Works with various campus constituencies, including department managers and faculty to implement advertising, marketing, website(s), and related services for marketing.
- Participates in the development of electronic and print marketing materials including those that drive enrollment.
- Recommends new techniques, best practices and approaches to increase the effectiveness of the Institute’s marketing and outreach initiatives; provides data-driven rationale to support recommendations.
- Remains current and proactive in the best practices for competitive and leading edge marketing and recruitment in Higher Education (graduate, undergraduate, on-line, and on-ground students).
- Conceives and manages e-marketing and direct mail campaigns to produce inquiries and leads; monitors response rates to evaluate campaign effectiveness.
- Produces, filters, and coordinates content for the website’s home page and reviews content submitted by others for brand consistency and appropriateness.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, writing, journalism, or other related discipline; graduate degree preferred.
- 2 to 4 years marketing experience; Higher Education and/or non-profit experience preferred.
- Experience in implementing and managing effective marketing and advertising campaigns.
- Successful track record with on-line marketing including, but not limited to, SEO, Google, Facebook, MS Display ads, use of video, articles, and other on-line tools.

Communications Specialist
REPORTS TO: Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Position Summary:
The Communications Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of public relations, branding, and communications functions both internal and external that advance the institution. He/She works with administrative and faculty leadership and various work teams in the implementation of a comprehensive public relations and communications program that includes implementation of institutional brand, brand consistency, and publications in support of the Institute’s strategic plan to enhance the organization’s brand and position in the marketplace and general public
Responsibilities:
- As a member of an internal creative team working with various campus constituencies, including departmental managers and faculty, develops and implements communications for public relations, alumni relations, and public programs
- Provides artistic and creative direction, in collaboration with the President, the Vice Presidents for Enrollment Management and Institutional Advancement, and other staff as required; writes and develops all communications materials including, but not limited to, all ITP publications, such as viewbooks, newsletters, press releases, direct mail, videos, print and on-line or broadcast advertising.
- Participates in the establishment of standard protocols and ensures the consistent communication of the organization’s desired image and position to all constituencies, both internal and external.
- Coordinates and ensures consistent use of all print and electronic materials, such as letterhead, use of logo, fonts, brochures, e-letters, forms, etc.
- Recommends new techniques, best practices, and approaches to increase the effectiveness of the Institute’s communications and outreach initiatives; provides data-driven rationale to support recommendations.
- In collaboration with creative team, conceives, writes, and edits messaging related to marketing communications and public relations pieces that drive enrollment and/or advance the institution.
- Supports the Institute’s brand, awareness-building requirements and signage needs for general campus marketing and events.
- Works with Vice President for Institutional Advancement to coordinate media interest in the organization, maintain contact with target media, and plan appropriate response to media requests.
- Bears responsibility for proactive media relations, including the establishment of meaningful relationships with various media professionals and the strategic initiation of press releases publicizing the range of ITP’s scholarly, research, community, and public activities.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, writing, public relations; graduate degree in a related field highly desirable.
- 2 to 4 years experience in communications or public relations preferably in the not-for-profit or educational sectors; prior experience in Higher Education is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully designing and implementing effective public relations campaigns, print, and on-line newsletters, etc..
- Superb communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills; ability to write, edit, and speak publicly is required.

Clinical Coordinator (Part-Time)
Masters in Clinical Psychology
This role provides advisory, administrative, and documentation duties related to all Masters in Counseling Psychology (MACP) students' clinical practicum training and licensure paths.
Responsibilities:
- Advise, mentor, and counsel MACP students with regard to the ITP’s clinical training process; CV/resume, cover letter, and interview preparation; finding and obtaining practicum placements; responding to issues that arise during practicum training; and obtaining post-graduate internship placement and BBS internship registration numbers.
- Demonstrate current knowledge of CA BBS licensing laws and regulations for MFTs and LPCCs
- Assist Low Residency MACP students in navigating their state/country’s licensing laws and regulations, and configuring those state/country’s requirements, in conjunction with ITP’s requirements, into appropriate clinical training and academic plans.
- Participate in the organization and staging of the annual ITP Practicum Fair
- Foster and develop effective relationships with current practicum training sites and approve new sites; maintain ITP MACP Practicum Site Database and Binders
- Monitor students’ compliance with BBS and ITP clinical training requirements; maintain training information on database; and maintain and update Clinical Training Handbooks and forms
- Attend weekly MACP program meetings and assist with admissions interviews for students applying to the MACP program
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Clinical Counseling or closely related discipline
- Licensed MFT in State of California

Executive Core Faculty

Institute of Transpersonal Psychology seeks candidates for part-time faculty position to serve as Executive Core Faculty for the 2012-2013 academic year. Screening of candidates for the open rank position will begin immediately. The deadline for submitting an expression of interest is February 15, 2011.
Job Description: This faculty member will serve the Masters and PhD in Transpersonal Psychology programs, which are residential, and require a minimum of two days per week on-campus.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Chair a minimum of 4 dissertations at a time
- Teach 9 units of coursework annually
- Attend all faculty council meetings and serve on one committee either in the program or schoolwide
- Writing support for students in both programs via close consultation with the chair of the programs and the coordinator of the Writing Lab
- Serve as evaluative reader for Masters and Doctoral Qualifying Papers annually
- Expertise in research design and implementation; Serve as advisor or consultant to dissertation students during research design phase
Requirements:
