ITP students are mature individuals from a broad range of professional backgrounds including education, business, health, law and theology who have reached a point in their lives when they desire to pursue areas of personal growth, career development and community contribution. Students enrolled in the residential programs range in age from the mid-twenties to the late sixties.
Student life is rich with opportunities to participate in the life of the community. Students gather together in numerous ways to learn, form special interest groups and enjoy one another in a social setting. Some groups and events are on-going and others are formed to address changing needs.
- The Diversity Committee meets regularly to articulate the need and desire for ITP to include greater diversity in the curriculum and community.
- Each fall ITP sponsors a harvest potluck and talent show where students, faculty, staff, board and their families come together for a wonderful evening.
- Through the colloquium series, two guest speakers come each quarter to share their wisdom with students, staff and faculty.
- Spokeswheel meetings are held each quarter in which the President and each class representative meets to discuss and respond to community concerns.
Alumni support ITP by providing career resources and fund raising for scholarships. ITP's graduates have invested themselves in some very interesting career choices as evidenced by the Alumni Profiles.
The Dean of Student Services offers ongoing support for ITP students in a variety of ways, including academic counseling, special interests, disability assistance and conflict resolution. Through the Dean of Student Services, ITP has established an ombudsperson position. The current Ombudsperson is an alumnae who is culturally sensitive and competent and provides a means of conflict resolution that is non-confrontational, impartial and strictly confidential.
