Bachelor's Degree Completion Programs
The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP) is pleased to announce it is developing two new Bachelor's Degree Completion Programs. Starting in September 2013, ITP plans to begin a BA in Psychology and a BA in Liberal Arts.*
The BA in Psychology will provide students with a solid foundation in the traditional and contemporary theories, methods, and applications of psychology. Students will complete an academic training program that helps prepare them for various types of professional work, such as social service, counseling, human resources, management, and health care. The BA in Psychology will also help students develop the analytical, research, creative thinking, and communication skills and competencies typically required to further their studies at the graduate level.
The BA in Liberal Arts will give students an interdisciplinary education in the liberal arts with the possibility of concentrating in one of three areas: Business and Leadership, Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) Studies, or Psychology.
- Business and Leadership: students will develop knowledge and understanding of sustainable "best practices" within business and entrepreneurial environments, transpersonal leadership values and skills, and engage in a community service practicum.
- LGBTQ Studies: students will develop knowledge and understanding of the histories of LBGTQ peoples and movements, the theoretical frameworks of ‘Queer Theory’, and engage in a community service practicum.
- Psychology: students will develop knowledge and understanding of the theories, methods, and applications of psychology with an opportunity to explore specific areas in which they have special interests.
ITP’s bachelor’s degree completion programs recognize and validate the spiritual life of our students as an integral part of their learning experience. Also, unlike most other degree completion programs, our programs will combine both online learning with two on-campus intensives in which students will engage with a community of learners, faculty, and staff who are committed to support their educational journey. We believe this mix of online and face-to-face meeting provides the right balance of individual, self-paced study with group learning and community building.
These new degree programs reflect ITP’s commitment to extend its distinct educational mission of whole-person learning to a broader and more diverse population of undergraduate students. We are excited about these plans and look forward to providing more information to prospective students in the coming months.
