John Mabry

John R. Mabry is the assistant director of the Spiritual Guidance program at ITP. He currently serves as pastor of Grace North Church in Berkeley, CA, a consensus liturgical community, and maintains an active spiritual guidance and supervision practice. He is the Assistant Director of the Spiritual Guidance Master's Program at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, and Director of the Interfaith Spiritual Direction Certificate Program at the Chaplaincy Institute for Arts and Interfaith Ministry, where he also teaches world religions and interfaith theology.
Dr. Mabry holds a Master’s degree in Creation Spirituality from Holy Names College and a doctorate in Philosophy and Religion from the California Institute of Integral Studies. He has served as editor for Creation Spirituality magazine, and Presence: An International Journal of Spiritual Direction, and as managing editor for the Episcopal Diocese of California's Pacific Church News.
He is the author of People of Faith: An Interfaith Companion to the Revised Common Lectionary; The Monster God: Coming to Terms with the Dark Side of Divinity; Faith Styles: Ways People Believe; Noticing the Divine: An Introduction to Interfaith Spiritual Guidance; God As Nature Sees God: A Christian Reading of the Tao Te Ching; Heretics, Mystics & Misfits; and Crisis and Communion: The Remythologization of the Eucharist.
