FAQ for Single Courses
General Questions:
Question: I would like to take three single courses. May I do that?
Answer: No, without enrolling in a program at ITP, you are only allowed to take one single course.
Question: Shall I take this course for credit or non-credit?
Answer: If you are taking this course as a prerequisite, you are allowed to take it for non-credit. If you want to apply the credit to a program, you need to take the course for credit.
Question: If I take it for non-credit now, can I change it to be for-credit later on if I decide that I do want to enroll in an ITP program?
Answer: No, you may not change it, although you will not be required to take the same course again within your program, but will be able to choose another elective instead.
Question: I want to take a single course within this quarter, but plan to be away for a portion of that time. Can I still do the course?
Answer: With the convenience of email and computer technology, you may be able to do all of your coursework while traveling, although it is not recommended to do so. If you will be somewhere where you do not have computer access, or no time to write papers, it is best to register for the course when you have more time.
Question: My Program Chair or Admissions Counselor says I am supposed to complete a prerequisite course by a certain deadline, but I just don't have time. What shall I do?
Answer: You need to send the person who set the deadline an email, and request an extension. Give full information about the circumstances that caused the problem, and a realistic solution for completion, and register for the course according to the agreed upon plan.
Question: My grad school says that I will be able to transfer in the credits from ITP to include a single course in my existing program with them. Do I have to pay the for-credit fee in order to do that?
Answer: You do need to pay the for-credit fee if you want to transfer your credits. Check with your school first to see if they will accept the credits before you register.
Question: I got sick and didn't start my single course until two weeks later. May I extend the course two weeks at the end?
Answer: If you and your mentor agree to expedite the course and finish within the 6 weeks, there is no need to report such changes to the Registrar Office. If the course will run longer than the designated 6 weeks, you must contact the Registrar Office at registrar@itp.edu and pay continuation tuition. Your course will then be extended another 6 weeks.
Question: I have not yet started my single course with ITP, I have already paid, but now I realize that I cannot take the course within the agreed time frame. What can I do?
Answer: If you haven't begun the course, and haven't taken up your mentor's time, you will have the option of deferring to another start date that is on the ITP list of acceptable start dates. Send an email to registrar@itp.edu and tell them what new date will work for you so that ITP can update its records.
Question: What about getting a refund if I cannot take the course at all for some reason.
Answer: Refer to the general refund policy in the ITP catalog at catalog.itp.edu.
Question: Once I have sent in my registration form, what do I do now, before the course starts?
Answer: You need to order your textbooks for the course. The reading list for all courses can be found on Angel Virtual Campus at http://itp.angellearning.com in Booklists under Institutional Resources.
