The Cystic Fibrosis Quality of Life Program™: A Living Legacy of Peter Judge
We are pleased to announce a program which provides support, counseling, and psychotherapy to the cystic fibrosis community
The goal of this program is to improve the quality of life for those who face CF every day. We can help with many life skills such as time-management, effective communication, self-advocacy, as well as issues related to stress, anger, grief, and loneliness.
Research indicates that by addressing psychological, social and spiritual concerns, those with chronic illnesses can make a significant impact on their quality of life. In this context, our program is specifically designed for those with CF. It will continue to be developed as a model for the national and global CF communities.
We provide clients in the San Francisco Bay Area with support, counseling, and psychotherapy at the Community Center for Health & Wellness (CCHW) Transpersonal Counseling Center in Palo Alto, CA. We support local and distant clients unable to meet in person at our center by phone and Skype.
The Cystic Fibrosis Quality of Life Program is available for individuals, families, and couples. All ages from adults, adolescents, to children are welcome. Fees are based on a sliding scale; no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
A safety protocol regarding cystic fibrosis cross-infection has been fully implemented. It is similar to the protocol used at the CFRI Conference and Day Retreat. While those with Burkholderia cepacia or MRSA, or who are pan resistant to any bacterium can not be seen at the Center, telephone support and counseling is available.
To make an appointment or for further information call (650) 493-5006.
The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology and Stanford Family Medicine combine expertise with the support of CFRI to meet the needs of Cystic Fibrosis Patients, Family Members, and Professional Caregivers through the Cystic Fibrosis Quality of Life Program.

This collaboration has been made possible by a two-year grant from the Peter Judge Memorial Fund. The grant is managed by the Center for Education in Family & Community Medicine (CEFCM) in the Stanford School of Medicine. Cystic Fibrosis Research, Inc. (CFRI) has given direction for the design of the program. They provide ongoing program assistance and contact with the Cystic Fibrosis Community.
The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP) President Thomas Potterfield, Ph.D., says, "We are proud to be a partner in this groundbreaking project in integrative medicine. Understanding the psycho-social-spiritual as well as physical dimensions of chronic disease is of utmost importance in caring for patients, their families, and even long term professional caregivers.”
