Steve's Vision:
After graduating from ITP with a Master's in Counseling, Steve set out to apply his skills in service to children in the culturally rich but underserved community of East Palo Alto, California.
Steve is now the Director of the Counseling Program in the Ravenswood School District. He has been responsible for developing and growing the program to assist over 450 children and families in Ravenswood, a District of twelve schools that serves over 4,000 students. In the Fall of 2007 Steve was presented with the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology's Community Engagement Award for his outstanding accomplishments.
Steve describes his role as that of helping the students reach their full potential. He says, "These kids have challenges that many of us did not have when we were growing up. The Ravenswood district is under a lot of pressure in terms of making academic strides, and if we can free up whatever is interfering with learning, then we are more hopeful about their capacity for learning."
