ITP Emeritus William Braud Writes New Book Chapter on Yoga Epistemology
ITP Emeritus Professor William Braud has contributed to a two-volume book on Indian psychology, titled Foundations of Indian Psychology: Concepts and Theories. This new book goes beyond merely tracing the history of Indian thought. It demonstrates how ideas and practices from Vedic, Sufi, Buddhist and Yogic traditions can be used to tackle issues in contemporary psychology. With its contribution to theory-building and application, it gives a new direction to psychology as it is studied today. The first book in a two-volume series, it will be of interest to students, scholars of psychology, philosophy and religion as well as the general reader. This volume addresses concepts and theories, and Volume 2 treats practical applications.
It was written in collaboration with the Indian Psychology Institute, whose aim is to explore and develop what the Indian traditions can contribute to modern psychology in terms of theoretical models, specific insights, reliable methods, practical applications, and avenues for future research.
