ITP Professor Publishes Chapter in NeuroTheology Text
A chapter by ITP Core Faculty member William Braud appears in the just-released book, NeuroTheology: Brain, Science, Spirituality, Religious Experience (University Press California, 2002). The book emphasizes ways in which neural functioning might be related to spiritual experiences.
Unlike other chapters in this book, Dr. Braud's chapter describes experiences and phenomena (namely, certain paranormal and noetic mystical experiences) that cannot be adequately explained on the basis of current understandings in conventional science and neuroscience. These findings provide challenges to contemporary neuroscientific and cognitive views of human functioning and potentials.
