ITP Honors Role of the Arts in Psycho-spiritual Healing and Development with Award for Excellence in Creative Expression
The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP) values the role of the arts in a therapeutic context with award given to graduating students who embody the spirit and intent of Creative Expression as a path toward wisdom, health, and wholeness.

Chiara ViscomiThe Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP) has awarded Chiara Viscomi, a graduate of the Masters in Counseling Psychology program, the Jill Mellick Award for Excellence in Creative Expression. The award is given to graduating students who embody the spirit and intent of Creative Expression as a path toward wisdom, health, and wholeness.

The award acknowledges and honors Dr. Jill Mellick who established the Creative Expression specialization in the Counseling Program at ITP and was instrumental in developing the school's foundational curriculum to include the arts and creative expression as one of the six pillars of an ITP education.

Founded in 1975, ITP began as a groundbreaking center of integrative, whole-person learning and training. The Institute's stimulating and transformative educational paradigm, values the mind, body, spirit connection, offering future clinicians and counselors an experiential educational model that integrates six aspects of human existence into the coursework: intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual, creative, and relational.

Today, ITP is a leader in transpersonal research and education of clinicians, spiritual guides, wellness caregivers, and consultants who apply transpersonal principles and values in a variety of settings. With its holistic approach to education and psychotherapy the Institute attracts students from all over the world to both residential and distance-learning programs. In addition to its graduate education programs, ITP operates the Community Center for Health & Wellness (CCHW), a professional counseling center and training facility offering quality services at an affordable sliding scale fee to the surrounding community.

Dr. Jill Mellick continues to be an active member of the ITP community as Professor Emeritus and is currently working on a project researching Carl Jung's experiences with painting and calligraphy as he developed "The Red Book", or "Liber Novus".
