Transpersonal Counseling Center Interns Will Work With Dr. Phil
On the Dr. Phil Show, which aired February 9, Julie Gauthier, an ITP Ph.D. student interning at ITP's Transpersonal Counseling Center, appeared as a guest who has agreed to work Dr. Phil's weight-loss program with a woman who is struggling with obesity. Julie will be working with a team of Transpersonal Counseling Center professionals, including ITP alum Dr. Joyce Lounsberry (Registered Nurse, Ph.D.) and David Butlein (MA), also a doctoral student interning at the Transpersonal Counseling Center.
During the segment on the Dr. Phil Show, Julie discussed the therapy she and her Counseling Center team will be offering. "We have a team of interns who will be working with you to give you support in terms of psychological support, motivational support, and nutritional and exercise support so you can really work Dr. Phil's program and feel supported while you do that," she said.
Dr. Phil was very complimentary of the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology and the Counseling Center team. In discussion about the therapy that the team will offer, Dr. Phil said, "...they're gonna track you mentally, emotionally, physically, nutritionally, exercise-wise, help is on the way!" He then added, "...let me tell you, Julie is as good as they come."
