“We at ITP believe that the message of Jean Shinoda Bolen’s book is a wisdom whose time has come,” says Pat Luce, Executive Director of ITP’s Center for the Sacred Feminine. “A gift of $100,000 from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous, enabled ITP to launch the Center. We are now thrilled to present Dr. Bolen as one of a series of renowned speakers on the topic of the sacred feminine.”

As Bolen explains, women as a gender have a wisdom that is needed. “This is a call from the Sacred Feminine to bring the feminine principle into consciousness and culture. When there is a critical mass and the tipping point is reached, gender balance ends patriarchy, and peace becomes possible,” says Bolen.

ITP’s Center for the Sacred Feminine will support the study, exploration and embodiment of all aspects of the divine feminine. The center will nurture and cultivate a healthier marriage of masculine and feminine principles in our society through education (workshops, speaker events, articles, and newsletters); support of student and faculty research, opportunities for networking and communication, and practice of the sacred feminine in rituals and celebrations to add an experiential component to all traditions.

An Additional Message from Dr. Bolen:
The original Mother's Day Proclamation, the Million Mom's march, MADD, the image of the Earth from outer space, the Gaia Hypothesis, UN Security Council resolution #1325, the popularity of, Jean Shinoda Bolen's Urgent Message from Mother and The Grail Legend all have to do with the return of the feminine principle into culture.

The message comes from Mother Earth, mother archetype, mother goddess, maternal instinct, and the Sacred Feminine and is emerging into consciousness.  Patriarchy since ancient Greece disempowered women and feminine divinity.  Monotheistic religion obliterated the goddess, and sanctified war.  The psychology that results teaches boys to identify with the aggressor, suppress compassion, and deny vulnerability.  Bullied boys become men in power, families and history are adversely affected.  When mothers and children are not safe, the cycle continues.

The antidote to patriarchy is held by women as a gender who do not yet recognize this.  Women's "tend and befriend" oxytocin reaction to stress as well as other psychological qualities are needed now.  The women's movement brought about enormous social, economic, and personal changes through ordinary women meeting together in groups.  When a critical mass or number of people change their perceptions and behavior, they can bring about evolutionary change, as we have already seen women do.  Rupert Sheldrake's morphic theory, Malcolm Gladwell's The Tipping Point, and Bolen's The Millionth Circle are all based on the power of individuals to become a critical mass.  This is the means through which peace becomes possible.
