Institute of Transpersonal Psychology Welcomes Arrival of New President Dr. Thomas Potterfield
The Board of Trustees of the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP) is very pleased to announce the arrival of its new president, Dr. Thomas Potterfield.
Dr. Potterfield comes to Palo Alto from New Hampshire, where he taught at Southern New Hampshire University in its Department of Organizational Leadership. Prior to that, Dr. Potterfield had a 13-year career at Velcro USA, Inc. He rose through the ranks at Velcro and eventually became its president. Dr. Potterfield’s employment history also includes working for a variety of consumer products companies in brand marketing and general management. He has applied transpersonal values throughout his corporate career and in his diverse leadership roles.
ITP Board of Trustees Chair, Marilyn Manning, remarks, “All of us on the Board, as well as the faculty, staff, and students who met Tom during the interview process, unanimously agreed that he has the right combination of qualities, experience, and skills needed to take ITP to the next evolutionary level.”
Dr. Potterfield earned a Ph.D. in psychology from Saybrook Graduate School and an M.A. in psychology from Seton Hall. He and his wife, Donna, support a number of charities, including the Zambian Children’s Fund, an orphanage and school for AIDS orphans in Zambia, and he has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations.
